Mission & Vision

Mission Statement

The mission of Washington Adventist Hospital Foundation is to develop programs that attract the support of corporations, foundations and organizations and that encourage individuals to contribute philanthropic funds to the hospital throughout their lives. This includes annual giving from income, occasional large gifts in support of special projects and endowment, and the ultimate gift arranged through bequests and other planned gift vehicles.

The trustees are responsible for pursuing the Foundation's mission. They do this in the following ways:

  1. They recruit other trustees who are committed to the mission of providing quality health care in this community and to fostering that mission by attracting philanthropic support.
  2. They organize their work through committees that take responsibility for the development and implementation of fund-raising programs. These programs include annual giving, direct mail, phonathons, and special events; capital campaigns and major gift support through personal solicitation; and estate planning through the establishment of planned giving vehicles such as gift annuities and pooled income funds, promotion through seminars and mailings and personal solicitation.
  3. They seek out opportunities to introduce people to the hospital's leadership in an ongoing effort to develop a network of support in the community.
  4. They insure that appropriate recognition is given to donors.
  5. They insure appropriate stewardship for gifts received.

The product of the Foundation's efforts is a mutually beneficial relationship that is established between the Foundation and the donor. Donors are willing to contribute funds when they perceive the Foundation as the channel through which they can influence change for the good that benefits the community.

Vision Statement

Nothing is more valuable than good health. It is the fundamental condition that underlies our enjoyment of life itself. To help others through the preservation and restoration of good health is the mission of Washington Adventist Hospital. Helping the hospital develop financial resources through philanthropic contributions to make that possible is the mission of Washington Adventist Hospital Foundation.

The Foundation is a herald telling the story of the hospital's service in the community - past, present, and future - for the purpose of inspiring others to support these efforts. It accomplishes this by identifying individuals, corporations, organizations and foundations capable of making gifts and grants; creating opportunities to inform prospective donors about the hospital; involving them in the hospital's mission; soliciting contributions; and recognizing the support that is given.

Through the implementation of this process it is the goal of the Foundation to develop and nurture the growth of a community of donors who take pride in the advances in patient care in our community that are made possible through their contributions.
