Cycle III with PCI Accredited Chest Pain Center
Washington Adventist Hospital is the first in the Washington DC region and only the second in Maryland to obtain accreditation as a Cycle III Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), or angioplasty from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC).
What This Means for Patients with Chest Pain
Patients who come to Washington Adventist Hospital with chest pain receive quality care from an experienced team of experts. The Chest Pain Center accreditation connotes that the hospital's processes and procedures used to care for chest pain patients exceed the rigorous standards set by the Society for Chest Pain Centers in the following areas:
- Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with chest pain quickly
- Quality of Care
- Competency and ongoing training of staff and physicians
- Interacting with EMS
- Continually seeking to improve processes and procedures
- Community education about chest pain and heart attack symptoms
Our comprehensive approach to care for chest pain patients ensures rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment as soon as a patient arrives in the Emergency Department. Treatments are most effective and patients do better when care is delivered during the critical early stages of a heart attack.
The entire care team at Washington Adventist Hospital's Chest Pain Center is trained to recognize the symptoms of Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS). Our standardized procedures ensure that all patients who arrive at the hospital with a potential heart attack undergo the same screening process, including an EKG within 10 minutes of arrival.
Comprehensive Care to Cardiac Patients
The quality care delivered to chest pain patients at Washington Adventist Hospital is part of the hospital's long-standing commitment to providing a full spectrum of comprehensive care to cardiac patients. Whether patients are experiencing chest pain or are in need of cardiac surgery, the expert and experienced team at Washington Adventist Hospital is prepared to provide life-saving care to our community.
