What You Can Expect at the
Joint Replacement Center
Our surgeons have been integral in designing the Joint
Replacement Center
at Washington Adventist Hospital
with you, the patient, in mind. They are Board-certified orthopedic surgeons
who have helped hundreds of patients regain activity through joint
replacement. You get their specialty
skill and experience from your office visit through to discharge and follow-up.
Our surgeons want you and your “coach” to participate in your recovery. That
starts before you have joint replacement surgery at the Joint
Replacement Center
at Washington Adventist Hospital,
when you attend our Total Joint Replacement Class. In this class, you'll meet
other people considering surgery and learn what to expect before surgery, during
your hospital stay and once you return home.
Throughout your hospital stay, your specially trained and supportive care
team will look after and support you through the recovery and rehabilitation
process. Our physical and occupational therapists will create a rehabilitation
program to meet your individual needs. In our experience, the key to your
recovery is your active participation in your rehabilitation. You will be up out of bed the day after your
surgery, and most patients stay in the hospital three days.
Unique features of the Joint
Replacement Center
at Washington Adventist Hospital
include a gym for therapy just steps away from private patient rooms, and a
gathering space for patients and their visitors. Patients are also offered a
special menu with numerous food selections and a dietitian available for
consult.
