Sleep Physicians

The following is a listing of Washington Adventist Hospital affiliated sleep physicians:

Marc Raphaelson, M.D. is a 1978 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He interned at the Presbyterian-University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Philadelphia, during 1978-1979. His residency in Neurology was begun at Stanford University Medical Center during 1979-1981 and was completed at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) during 1981-1982. The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with added qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology, certify him in Neurology. Dr. Raphaelson is board certified in sleep medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.

The American Board of Electro Diagnostic Medicine also certifies him in Electro Diagnostic Medicine. He holds among others, an active membership in American Society for Neuroimaging, and has passed its examination certifying competence in Neurosonology.

Konrad W. Bakker, M.D. is a graduate of the University of Amsterdam School of Medicine, The Netherlands, 1981. He performed rotating internships at the University of Leiden Medical Center, The Netherlands during 1981 and 1982. Dr. Bakker was a visiting fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD during 1983-1984. His Neurology residency was at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC from 1984-1987. He is board certified in Neurology, with added qualifications in Neurophysiology, by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

He is board certified in Electro Diagnostic Medicine by the American Board of Electro Diagnostic Medicine. Dr. Bakker is board certified in Sleep Medicine, and is an active member of the American Sleep Disorders Association, American Neurological Association and the American Society of Neuroimaging. He holds the position of Clinical Instructor at Georgetown University Medical School.
