Expanded Hospital Care in Current Service Area
The proposed new medical campus is on 48 acres at Plum Orchard Drive and Cherry Hill Road in the heart of the hospital’s current service area. The campus will be accessible by public transportation and is off of major interconnecting roads enhancing access to ambulances, the communities we serve in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and employees.
21st Century Health-Care Facility
The new site will allow for a modern 249-bed hospital offering 21st century whole-person care. Patients will receive care in private rooms, with more space for clinical care, and state-of-the-art equipment and technology. There will be ample space for physician offices and parking. The faith center known as The Center for Spiritual Life and Healing, in addition to a lake, gardens, wooded areas, and a trail, will provide a serene healing environment for patients, visitors and employees.
Partnership with FDA Expands Research
The new hospital site is adjacent to the Food and Drug Administration. The hospital and the FDA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding laying the groundwork for health research and medical innovation.
Thoughtful Planning/Community Support
The new hospital site has major traffic and land-use approvals in place, respecting the environment and blending effectively into the surrounding community while employing principles of smart growth. The project has more than 2,000 letters of support from local residents, civic leaders, community organizations and various faith communities.
Jobs/Economic Development
The new hospital campus will ultimately create more than 1,000 new permanent jobs for the Montgomery County and Prince George’s County region. More than 275 additional construction jobs will be created during the building of the hospital and campus.
Continued Use of Current Campus
As we work on our relocation, plans are also underway to convert our current campus into a Village of Education, Health and Well-being with a primary care center, an urgent care facility and other health-care and community services. We are also expanding our partnership with Washington Adventist University on education programs for the region.
